The ukulele in Grade 6B

The vibrant singing accompanied by the ukulele kept the kids in both Grade 6 classes awake and moving all the time. I don't think they have ever exercised so much in one day (ha ha ha).

The ukulele

The Grade 6A class really enjoyed the lesson on the ukulele even though at first the instrument looked a bit strange. The two Scottish students were really amazing and encouraged the learners to participate. Kiah and Katie are truly amazing. Their personality, manners, and talents are outstanding! Thank you for sharing a part of yourselves with us.

SYSTEMIC TESTING OF GRADES 3 AND 6

Dear Learners and Parents,

We hope that learners are diligently preparing for the systemic tests which will take place on Wednesday, 22 October 2014. Parents and guardians are expected to monitor AND assist in the revision of English and Mathematics. Learners should always remain positive and adopt an ATTITUDE OF STRIVING FOR EXCELLENCE.

We trust that everyone will do their best and enjoy the last few weeks of the academic year.

ATTITUDE: 1+20+20+9+20+21+4+5=100% success

Have you ever wondered what makes success? Is it luck? Hard work? Anything else? Who knows. There is a formula for success for all.

 First, we assume that each letter of the alphabet represents a number. That is, A=1, B=2, C=3, D= 4, E=5, etc. In a survey that asks what the key of success is, there are six main answers. They are luck, money, knowledge, leadership, hard work and attitude.

When we add their ordinal number, we have the result. That is:
Luck = 12 + 21 + 3 + 11 = 47%
Money = 13 + 15 + 14 + 5 + 25 = 72%
Knowledge = 11 + 14 + 15 + 23 + 12 + 5 + 4 + 7 + 5 = 96%
Leadership = 12 + 5 + 1 + 4 + 5 + 18 + 19 + 8 + 9 + 16 = 97%
Hard work = 8 + 1 + 18 + 4 + 23 + 15 + 18 + 11 = 98%

And:

Attitude = 1 + 20 + 20 + 9 + 20 + 21 + 4 + 5 = 100%.

VISITORS FROM BALWEARIE HIGH SCHOOL

This week we had a group of amazing people gracing us with their presence. Our learners enjoyed interacting with the students from Balwearie High School and established an immediate connection with them. We are really grateful for everything that their school has done for us and for their enthusiasm each day.

At times, we at Welcome Primary, complain, sigh, dread the bad and ugly, and sulk when things don't go our way- but seeing the smiles on these visitors' faces made us realise that we indeed do have a lot, even though at times it seems little.

How many times do we, ourselves, reflect and think of those LESS FORTUNATE THAN US? Let us at Welcome Primary try and emulate great examples of selflessness, random acts of kindness, and continuous gratitude. May we always begin and end everything we do with God's name so that all it may be filled with blessings and benefits for everyone.

We look forward to meeting the second group of Balwearie students and staff next week. We hope that they will enjoy their time with us!
